"Thought you might like to see what the band has been up to. We were
invited to Heinz Field as guests of the Steelers. Our first trip was
on August 19, 2006 for the Vikings game. We did a mini-concert
outside the stadium and were scheduled to do a pre-game show on the
field. However mother nature would not behave and the pre-game show
was canceled because of lightning. We were invited back on
August 31st for the Panthers game and were able to do the pre-game
show which went over GREAT! With the sound system they have at the
stadium the music, we are told, sounded teriffic. Last weekend
the band traveled out east to Conshohocken, PA where we participated
in the State Firemens Convention parade."
The Fireman's Band has been around for quite some time. Below
is a picture from the KHS Class of 1960 archives showing the band in
the 1950's. The band first marched in a parade on August 2,
1949 and has been marching ever since collecting many honors along
the way.
