Mel Check and Patty Livengood Check

Pat Livengood Check reports that her husband, Mel, worked for KDKA for most of his career. This naturally led to an interest in radios -- old and new. Mel opened a Radio Museum at 660 Hillville Road, Karns City, PA with more than 600 radios on display as well as Pirate and Penguin collectibles. A grand opening was held June 5th and 6th, 2004. In September, 2006 a group of churches around East Brady discovered a common voice thanks to Classmate Pat Livengood Check of Hillville, a member of the Christian Praise and Worship Church in Brady's Bend.

Pat contacted the East Brady Ministerium and asked permission to put together a choir from the many small churches in the area.  The Ministerium agreed and Pat formed the East Brady Area Community Choir.

The Choir's first major presentation is a Christmas Cantata "Touched by a Child, Touched by a King" was held December 3, 2006, at the Christian & Missionary Aliance Church, Kelly's Way, East Brady.  The Cantata was directed by Pat, whose husband, Mel, and daughter, Cindy Boyden, are also in the choir.  Members of the choir have been meeting weekly in preparation for the cantata and Pat hopes to keep the choir going indefinitely.

When asked about the Dec. 3rd Cantata, Pat said:  "It was great.  I was very nervous because I didn’t know how it would be accepted.  Along with the singing and narration of the cantata I had my younger sister Chris and a friend, in from Ohio, perform Ministry of the Arts (tambourine, dance, ribbons, streamers, flags, etc) on several of the songs.  It was a blessing how everything came together.  The choir did a wonderful job; we had a full house and everyone loved it.  I wish we could have done it more than once."
