Our 2006 Arizona Vacation ...

Our vacation started on June 15th and we crossed the Colorado River at one of only two places to do that in Arizona.....near Page.  The bridge was built in 1930 and at that time 5,000 people came for the ribbon cutting ceremony - amazing because the bridge was in "no man's land" and Arizona was not too populated.  A new bridge was built in 1995.   We first visited the North Rim of the Grand Canyon - many pines.  The South Rim is more desolate but both are so very colorful.  It is 12 miles across from Rim to Rim but it is 212 miles around.  From the Grand Canyon we went to Kanab, the Sand Dunes, Zion Park and Bryce Canyon.  We had not been to Bryce Canyon or Zion Park for 33 years - still breath taking.  At this point we were 422 miles from home.  We also went to St George, Utah, a Mormon City - very historic.  The scenery is indescribable - formations so huge and the color is ever changing with the sun and the elements.
